Gloucester Summer Race League dates for 2010 are as follows:
- Saturday 8th May
- Saturday 5th June
- Saturday 3rd July
- Saturday 7th August
- Saturday 18th September
- Saturday 16th October
For those of you who would like to race for the first time this year – welcome. This is a race which takes place at Gloucester on six Saturdays of the year, running from 9am to about 4:30pm. It’s suitable for those with some previous race experience, probably at Ackers on our race training and timing nights or Lockwoods Cup / Schools Race.
All new skiers must be signed off by a coach first. This will say that you can manage the day, being able to ski the course safely, to have demonstrated some capability to ski around the poles in the correct route and that you have shown that your conduct is suitable as a representative of Midland Ski Club. I will manage coaches sign-off initially, so please ask, I will arrange an assessment with one of our coaches if we haven’t already seen you ski around poles. I will send out further details of race day to any new families as soon as I have full details.
We have two GSRL training sessions on 15th April at Ackers where we will practice some technical skills and race around a course. Each session is 3 hours, these must be booked via Ackers directly.
Please can you let me know outline availability for each month so that we know if we have enough skiers to enter 3 teams. I will confirm availability for each race throughout the summer and let you know if we are oversubscribed and need to select some skiers on a rota system.
It is important that all racers are members of MSC and have paid their full subscription. The wearing of a suitable ski helmet is compulsory this year for the MSC teams at Gloucester. I can’t confirm the cost yet for this year, at the end of last year it was £7 per skier for each race.
